Conventional V-30 Drilling

This method of drilling is used with the conventional V-30 drilling head.

A 16.5 cm (6.5 inch) pilot hole is drilled to the target on the lower level. The pilot hole is reamed to 25 cm (10 inch). The V30 drilling head is then attached and is pulled to the upper level.

Down reaming

Down reaming method

Down reaming is often used when access to the lower level is difficult or non existant (breakthrough into a stope). Using this method of drilling, no emplyee is required on the lower level to attach the equipment or change the bits.

After having drilled the 16.5 cm (6.5 inch) pilot hole and reamed to 25 cm (10 inch), the V-30 is attached and pushed to the lower level.

Blind boring method

The blind boring method is used when the upper level is dangerous and difficult or impossible to access. Such as in pillar remnants.

After having drilled the 16.5 cm (6.5 inch) pilot hole and reamed to 25 cm (10 inch), the V-30 head is attached and pushed to the upper level.
